Kane Cooks, who had record-breaking high school football seasons at Atascadero High School, is ready to carry on his career at the college level.
In his junior year as Quarterback, Kane lead Atascadero High School to a historic CIF State Champions Title with his older brother Trey Cooks by his side as Running Back. As a senior, at 6’1” and 185lbs, Kane threw for 13 touchdowns and rushed for 15 touchdowns in 2023, averaging 235 total yards per game and leading his team to an undefeated season and a league title. His speed and versatility also garnered him 3 interceptions, 40 tackles at safety including a game saving, final minute, end zone interception and a final minute, game-winning, blocked kick.
Kane was also voted 2023 Football MVP by Atascadero High, CIF Ocean League and the San Luis Obispo County Tribune Newspaper.
Kane has shown the utmost persistence and tenacity to maintain his schoolwork and remain physically active. In his youth Kane has played soccer, baseball, basketball as well as football. At Atascadero High School he lettered in 3 sports including football, wrestling, and track. Kane currently wrestles in the 172 lb weight class and placed second in the 2024 CIF Sectionals and first place in 2023.. In track in 2023, he competed in CIF Sectionals, in 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles and high jump.
On top of his incredible natural football talent, Kane is a very hard worker and very kind human being. He knows what it takes to be a great teammate and win championships while maintaining a humble attitude .

Academically, Kane scored a 1360 on his SAT and will graduate this year with a 3.95 GPA. He is planning to major in Mathematics/Engineering in college. He is a leader in his community and church, serving as AYSO soccer referees, helping instruct at youth football clinics, and speaking at middle school rallies about playing sports in high school.
Kane comes from academic and athletic backgrounds. His older brother Trey, is a standout athlete playing Running Back next to Kane in the 2022 CIF State Championship season. Trey was voted 2022 Football MVP by Atascadero High, CIF Ocean League and the San Luis Obispo County Tribune Newspaper.
His cousin, Elijah Cooks, is currently playing wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars, after highly successful seasons at UNR and San Jose State and completing his degree.
Kane’s parents were college athletes and grads. Kane’s parents were college athletes and grads. Dad, Roosevelt Cooks, played linebacker and was defensive MVP at Fresno City College earning the Wall of Fame honors. He was also Defensive MVP at University of Nevada, Reno as they tied for the WAC championship with Boise State. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from UNR.
His Mom, Natalie Cooks, was also a college athlete, playing soccer at Fresno City College, Fresno State, and Vanguard University, before earning a bachelor's in Kinesiology and a master's in Exercise Physiology at Fresno State.
His Aunt Riley Cooks (Dad’s sister,) was an All-American heptathlete at Long Beach State. She also trained for 3 years at the US Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA, while
competing internationally.
